Brittany, the most westerly part of France and bounded on three sides by the Atlantic Ocean, has a character all of its own. Here ancient Celtic traditions and the Breton language mingle with more recent contacts with the rest of France. It is a region steeped in legends and mythology. A fantastical place to enchant all who visit it.
The Côtes d'Armor is situated on the northern coast of Brittany and is an ideal base for your holidays - whether to explore the spectacular coastline itself (known as the "Emerald Coast"), the lush countryside with its Manoirs and Châteaux, or the delightful valley of the river Rance. There is a veritable wealth of discoveries awaiting you for all seasons.
La Renardais, at Plouër-sur-Rance, is an elegant country house Bed & Breakfast established in 1993, where you will be made to feel "at home away from home" when you arrive. Built some 150 years ago, it has been carefully restored by us to provide modern-day comforts for our guests in a traditional setting. Recommended by the AA in the "Best B&B France" guide, and listed in The Observer's "Top Twenty" selection.
The house stands about 400 meters from the river Rance, 10 minutes down-river from the fascinating medieval town of Dinan. The coast (and beaches) are about 15 minutes away at Dinard or Saint-Malo, and Mont Saint Michel is 40 minutes from La Renardais.
There are a number of daily flights now to this area. You can fly in under an hour from Stansted or East Midlands Airport to Dinard (10 mins. from the house), and also from Southampton, Cardiff, and Dublin to Rennes (40mins from the house). Paris is 2 hours on the TGV, and you can reach us in under 5 hours from the Channel Tunnel. We are also easily accessible from all the main Ferry Ports - St-Malo, Roscoff, Caen, Cherbourg, Le Havre, and so on up to Calais and Dunkirk.
"A favourite area, blissfully little known..." is how Patricia Fenn describes Plouër-sur-Rance in her well known French Entrée guide, "...a peaceful and safe setting for your stay in France".
For golf lovers, there are many fine golf courses (both inland and links) within a short distance from La Renardais for which information is available on request.
Footnote for house-hunters - having been here for many years ourselves, we are more than pleased to offer you help and assistance in your search if this is required.
